Ray Nelson, President and Co-Founder / Flying Rhinoceros

Ray Nelson is President and co-founder of Flying Rhinoceros, a Portland-based producer and distributor of educational books, classroom materials, television cartoons, software and websites. He is a "creative visionary" who has demonstrated the unique ability to integrate education with entertainment, and to deliver that combination in the context of multi-media materials, schools, museums and a host of corporate-sponsored venues.

Ray is the main author and illustrator of the highly acclaimed Flying Rhinoceros Learning Books and created the characters and the concept for the top-rated CBS television show, "Flying Rhinos Junior High" Together with his team of world-class animators, educators and designers, he has also led the company's "outreach" programs involving more than 1,000 presentations to about 250,000 schoolkids.

Organizations such as Outback, Kraft, US Bancorp, CBS, Mills Malls and the U.S. Olympic Committee have called on Ray to use his unique abilities as a creative story-teller to help them communicate their messages and brands to the family market. A recent Flying Rhinoceros marketing program with Orkin Pest Control ("Smithsonian O. Orkin Insect Safari") was credited by Orkin as "the most efficient marketing campaign they'd ever run."

Prior to co-founding Flying Rhinoceros, Ray spent four years at Will Vinton Studios, where he participated in the creation of California Raisins and was a member of the creative team that received two Emmy Awards for television specials.

Ray has retained The Helixx Group to help accelerate the development and marketing of several of his current animation properties (beginning with "On The Farm" and "The Horned Avenger"), and to help advance his life stewardship agenda of bringing hope and encouragement to the children of the world through an Arts Foundation.
