![]() What is Helixx? Mission & Vision Founding Partners Client Services Newsroom The Lifework Institute
|
The Lifework Institute is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit venture (administered by National Heritage Foundation) that exists to further the Helixx mission through not-for-profit activities. One example of this is our work to facilitate "discussion groups" involving high-impact humans. The model for this initiative is Ben Franklin's "Junto," formed in 1727. He brought his influential friends together on a periodic basis to exchange ideas, books and critiques of one another's work. Franklin's formation of the Junto led to the development of a "subscription library" for its members, which in time became the first public library in America, as well as the first fire department, paved roads, and the University of Pennsylvania, among other things. Current applications of this work include The Centurions Fellowship and The PigFest Society. The Lifework Institute is engaged to provide an organizational model, facilitation services and stewardship productivity tools to the individual clients and groups it serves. These gatherings help members to sharpen their thinking about both economic, philanthropic and personal growth strategies. Helixx client-partners and other collaborators in new thinking about these subjects are made Lifework Institute Fellows. Helixx is engaged in work with a group of leading national and international service companies to identify key information about the fast-developing "personal services" industry, and ways in which our clients can benefit from an understanding of emerging trends as well as proven models of success. We have also helped to launch the first doctoral program in the world with a concentration in "lifework studies." As Helixx helps to shape the future of the "life planning" and "life agency" services industries that are just now beginning to emerge, the firm's founders have committed to establishing a "learning society" to advance the study and practice of these new service offerings. This will involve a programmatic initiative that will be incorporated into the curriculum of universities in the U.S. and abroad, beginning with selected Executive MBA and graduate studies programs. An example of this kind of initiative has been developed as a pilot model for Wake Forest University's Babcock School of Management: http://www.babcocklsi.org. These, and all other initiatives soon to be announced, are being developed with resource support from Helixx and the Lifework Institute.
