Ricardo Valencia / Senior Vice President of ING (USFS)

Ricardo Lopez Valencia is a nationally recognized leader because of his passion for helping others. He is a widely recognized champion of the potential of people and uses his platform to inspire others to make the most of what they are given.

Today, Valencia runs ZAMAS HOLDINGS LLC, his family company which includes a successful consulting business and serves as an incubator for new entrepreneurial ventures. When identifying the name of his family business, Valencia simply chose the first letter of each of his three children's names: "Z","M" and "S". Unbeknownst to him at the time, ZAMAS is actually a word of Mayan origin which means "new beginnings"; appropriate for the direction Valencia's moral compass was pointing.

Ricardo is among a handful of Hispanics who are seated on boards of publicly traded companies. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ambassadors Group (NASDAQ: EPAX) where he is seated on the compensation and nominating committees.

His most recent corporate role was serving as the Senior Vice President of ING U.S. Financial Services. The highest ranking Hispanic at ING USFS, he was responsible for the development of financial wealth development programs targeting the nation's diversity segments. He left his post in June 2007 to spend more time with his family and focus on being a husband and father first.

Born in Marana, Arizona, a small farming community outside Tucson, he is the son of a migrant farm working family. His grandparents were also migrant farm workers in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. In addition to working the fields, Ricardo's father, Ray, was a laborer for three decades in the copper mines of San Manuel and cement factories. His mother, Amada, was one of the first female deputy sheriffs of Pima County. She required Ricardo to work in the fields so he would be rooted in his family's history.

A product of, and therefore an advocate of public education and career and technical education, he became the first Hispanic president of Arizona's Future Farmers of America (FFA) in 1983. The post also helped him secure a scholarship to California Polytechnic State University where he earned degrees in agricultural business. He then started a nonprofit organization right after college to fund educational opportunities for children of migrant farm workers.

He returned to Arizona and served as the Director of Professional Development for career and technical education. Ricardo was recruited to be the Executive Director of the National FFA Alumni Association, an opportunity that enabled him to give back to an organization that enriched his youth. He continued his work in education when he became the Director of Education for USA Today, where he helped make K-12 outreach a major initiative for the nation's newspaper. All along Valencia held his mission of improving lives close at heart, as he made contacts and built a reputation.

Valencia is currently on the board of the West Ed, a national nonprofit education research, development, and service agency and the Children's Action Alliance, an Arizona based advocacy movement. He has held numerous national board positions on the National PTA Board, National 4-H Board, the National FFA Foundation Board, the White House Millennium Youth Initiative and the U.S. Department of Education's Partnership for Family Involvement, the New York Hispanic Ballet and the Women's President's Organization.

Valencia has completed Harvard Executive Leadership Programs including certification for non-profit board development. Ricardo currently resides in Phoenix with his wife Lisa, their 7 year-old son, Zacarias Alejandro, and 4 year-old twins, Maximo Antonio and Sofia Victoria.

He has retained The Helixx Group to help him launch a number of properties including a media property called Chispas, to form his family foundation, and to assist him in implementing other aspects of his lifework strategy.

Eduardo Najera

Eduardo Najera (born July 11, 1976 in Chihuahua, Mexico) is a basketball player in the NBA, currently playing forward for the Denver Nuggets. He is known for his rebounding and his tenacity on defense on the court, and for his inspirational approach to life off the court.

Eduardo is only the second Mexican-born player to join the NBA, and is hugely popular among both Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. He played college basketball at the University of Oklahoma from 1997-2000, becoming a major star there. He helped the team to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances during his college career, and finished in the school's "All-time Top 10" in nine statistical categories. He also helped Mexico achieve fourth place finishes in the 1999 World Games and World University Games.

Najera received the Chip Hilton Player of the Year Award from the Basketball Hall of Fame, an award given to a player who has demonstrated personal character both on and off the court, and has served as a United Nations Drug Control Program Goodwill Ambassador for Sports Against Drugs. He was recently featured in a commercial sponsored by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico to help promote voting for the presidential elections in Mexico.

Eduardo's primary philanthropic focus, however, is the Eduardo Najera Foundation for Latino Achievement, which he founded in 2004 to provide college scholarships for outstanding Latino students facing barriers to their educations. The Foundation has helped to launched the Eduardo Najera League that now involves tens of thousands of Latino youth and their families from all across Mexico, training them in court skills as well as skills for life. He also runs an All-Star Camp and produces an NBA All-Star Game in Mexico each year, as well as clinics in communities around the U.S. He is sponsored by Gatorade, Wonder, Qwest, Stanford Financial Group, and a host of others.

Steve Jennings, Founder ZYOZY Foundation

Steve Jennings founded Maxim, one of Europe’s leading active lifestyle functional food and beverage companies in 1991 and was its CEO through 2000. In 1997, Maxim was acquired by Dutch food group, Prinsen BV. During that time, he successfully managed the integration of the Maxim business into the Prinsen system and oversaw the entry of Maxim into the mainstream grocery channel.

In late 2000, Steve began the development of a healthy snack and beverage platform specifically aimed at teenagers. In 2003, the platform concept was acquired by PepsiCo and Steve became one of the founding members of PepsiCo’s ‘good-for-you’ foods and beverage innovation team.

In 2007 Steve became one of the founders and Executive Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at Attitude Drink Company, a publicly quoted beverage innovation company – OTC Bulletin Board (ADDC). His insights into evolving consumer preferences and industry knowledge provide the expertise in creating differentiated consumer branding, new business opportunities and high impact grassroots and viral marketing programs for Attitude Drink Company.

Steve’s youthful days in the 1960's and 70's were spent running around Hull located in the county of Yorkshire, England. Football, athletics, cycling, pretending to be George Best (greatest soccer player of all time) and all the other fun things that energetic kids do appealed far more than sitting in a room studying whatever......

With all the time he spent riding his bike, it was no surprise to anyone when he gave up his BP sponsored Chemical Engineering degree studies, packed his bags and together with his bicycle left the rugged landscape of Yorkshire and the famous fish & chips of Hull to try his hand at racing bicycles as a full time professional cyclist in Holland, Belgium and France.

Ask Steve what he does for a living and the likely response today will be; "start things, connect people, push out the ‘higher-purpose’ innovation envelope, encourage kids to be creative, ride my bike, have an innovative and sustainable impact on people confronted with extreme poverty."

When Steve isn’t dreaming up ever more creative ways to tell the world about his lifework mission he can be found riding his bike on the network of trails found in the western suburbs of Chicago -- if you can catch him!

Steve is the co founder of Bicycles for Humanity, a Canadian humanitarian initiative that collects unwanted bicycles and distributes them to those most in need of mobility in Africa. He resides with his wife and 2 children in Naperville, Illinois.

Steve has retained The Helixx Group to help accelerate the development of 'ZYOZY Foundation' – a multi-faceted, blended value organization that encompasses his lifework mission related to media that is transformational, participatory and higher-purpose, special events, and philanthropic commercial ventures aimed at delivering innovative solutions to people confronted with extreme poverty.

Many of these have been out-licensed from Indiana University and have reached patients or have been under development for patient care applications.

As an example, Dr. March invented and patented a device called a Closer, a suture-mediated closure device that is used to close the arterial hole following a heart catheterization. This device allows a patient to literally "walk off the table" after a catheterization without requiring prolonged bed rest. The company that developed this technology was acquired in 1999 by Abbott Vascular, an affiliate of Abbott Laboratories, for $680 million, and the Closer approach is now used in 500,000 patients worldwide annually.

Joshua A. Shaw, Founder & CEO, MISSION Products

Joshua Shaw is a seasoned entrepreneur, author and lecturer with over 15 years experience launching, building, growing and selling companies. He’s recognized by his peers as a maverick who understands how to develop people, brands and companies, and is currently applying those instincts to the launch of a line of athlete-engineered skincare under the brand MISSION Products, to be released in early 2008.

Josh was most recently Co-founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of GoSMILE, Inc. In that role, he helped pioneer an entirely new concept within the $4 billion dollar oral care category that has taken the prestige specialty beauty industry by storm: the “smile-beauty” category. Under his direction, GoSMILE became the category leader, making him one of the cosmetic industry's rising stars.

Developing, launching and managing successful organizations is Josh's forte and passion. Prior to joining GoSMILE, Josh successfully helped build and run the multi-media marketing services company, Student Advantage Inc. Over nine years, Josh oversaw various aspects of the business ranging from marketing and sales to operations and business development. A driving force in the organization as it grew from 12 people generating $400k in annual revenue to nearly 500 people generating over $85MM, he played an integral role in the successful evolution of the business from the start-up phase into a public entity. At its height, Student Advantage was valued at more than $1 billion on the NASDAQ.

Josh was also hand-selected out of one million applicants to participate in the hit NBC reality TV show "The Apprentice" with Donald Trump. He was one of the 18 chosen for Season 4, and was widely recognized as one of the dominant leaders amongst his group. His charisma, strategic know-how and passion shined through on the show, just as it does in his life and at work.

Among his advisory roles, Josh serves on the Board of Directors for gloMinerals (gloProfessional) and the Board of Advisors for Max’s Men’s Grooming Salons and Spas. He is actively engaged in philanthropic pursuits including Operation Smile, Autism Speaks, and The Ronald McDonald House.

Josh received his BS in Marketing/Finance from the University at Albany. He co-authored the book “Who Invented Lemonade?” with Dr. Alexander Barzvi, and frequently lectures on business, strategy, positive thinking and team-building. He lives in New York City with his wife Melissa and daughter Ava Violet.

Josh has retained Helixx to help accelerate the development of MISSION Products, related media and philanthropic ventures, and his portfolio of personal lifework engagements.
